Embroidery is for everyone!
Embroidery is such an inclusive art form—it creates space for anyone who wants to be near it, and it can tell any story that is important to you. Each stitch tells a story. Every single pull of thread is crucial to clearly see the full picture. Handmade things matter. Creating matters. This is a space for all levels of experience and ability.
V. Hand Stitching launched in 2022 while I worked my first job out of college and realized that I needed a way to be creative and connect with my community, having just moved back to Georgia. V. began with me hand embroidering tote bags–a love letter to my years working towards an art degree in New York City–and selling them at local handmade markets.
My family likes to joke that “whimsy is in my blood” because I come from a long line of artists, including my grandparents who are folk artists who had a business called “Don Noyes Whimsical Birds.” My own projects are often whimsical in their own right, embracing bright colors and created in celebration of women’s interests.
In the past few years, V. has grown into the business of my dreams. As an artist, I have the privilege of selling my own work, hosting workshops all across Georgia, and offering kits and patterns for other crafters to make their own projects. Not to brag, but it’s the best job in the world.
